Considering Harm/Philadelphia
Exhibition: January 12 – January 30, 2013
Reception: January 12, 2013 1-3 pm
Pamela Flynn and CeaseFirePa are working together to bring awareness to gun violence in Philadelphia. The Seed on Diamond Gallery is pleased to present a benefit exhibition by Pamela Flynn titled Considering Harm/Philadelphia. Pamela Flynn will be donating a percentage of proceeds from the sale of the artwork to CeaseFirePa Education Fund.

Considering Harm is a body of work that is traveling to US cities to bring awareness to the harm gun violence brings to individuals and to communities. The exhibit was exhibited in NYC at the Phoenix Gallery in the spring of 2012. The exhibit consists of 29 mixed media pieces that are contemplative works on gun violence. Each work is exhibited with text that refers to an incident involving gun violence in Philadelphia. The combined impact of the work and text creates an atmosphere of contemplative tension. The viewer is forced to Consider Harm.

Pamela Flynn is a mixed media artist who deals with social and cultural issues in her work. She is a recipient of the 2006 Puffin Foundation Grant for her work Road Shrines: A Peripheral Blur. Pamela Flynn is a professor of art and the fine arts coordinator at Holy Family University, Philadelphia.
CeaseFirePa is dedicated to reducing gun violence through education and advocacy.
The artist and representatives from CeaseFirePa will be at the opening January 12th, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
